The Upper Austrian State Cup was held for the first time in 1927 and the SK Vorwärts Steyr won. In the following years, the two Linz clubs SV Urfahr Linz and Linzer ASK alternated, the original drivers and the athletes each won the trophy four times. The Governor's Cup, which was held in 1936, was won by the Admira, the Dr. Schlegel Cup in the same year by the Urfahrer. Before the war, two more seasons were played, which the Linz athletes and SK Vorwärts Steyr could win.

The competition was reintroduced after the end of the war in 1946 as part of the Bundesländer Cup . However, after this was abolished in the course of the state league reform, the OÖFV, as one of the last Austrian regional associations, decided in 1955 to discontinue its cup competition for an indefinite period of time. During this time there were eight tournaments with just as many different winners: Linzer ASK, SK Amateure Steyr, SK Vorwärts Steyr, ATSV Ranshofen, SK Enns, SV Urfahr Linz, Welser SC and SV nitrogen Linz.
