In the early days of the Tyrolean Cup for men's teams, between 1926 and 1930, only clubs from Innsbruck took part. Innsbruck AC won the first cup in 1927 with a 3-1 win over FC Veldidena. The competition was not held in the following year. It was not until 1929 that Innsbruck AC won again against SV Innsbruck with a 6-1 victory.

In 1930 there was a 1-1 draw between Innsbrucker AC and FC Wacker Innsbruck in the first game. In the second game it was also 1-1 after extra time and no winner was found between the two clubs. So it was decided to declare both teams as winners for this season, to consider the result as unofficial and not to host the cup for years.

As part of the federal state cup , the competition was reintroduced in most federal states after the end of the war in 1946. A Tyrolean Cup competition was organized in Tyrol in 1949/50 and 1950/51, which was won by the Innsbruck AC. In the following years, the TFV decided not to hold its own cup competition due to the poor conditions, poverty in the population, poor sports fields and much more.

If there is a draw after 90 minutes, the winner will be determined immediately (without extra time) in a penalty shoot-out.
