history

Oberamt Biberach, territorial status 1813, with the earlier rule and office boundaries
legend

With the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss , the imperial city of Biberach fell to Baden in 1803, while the immediate imperial monasteries in the area were secularized and distributed to various ducal and count houses. After the Rhine Confederation Act ended the territorial fragmentation in 1806 and brought most of the area under Württemberg sovereignty, the Biberach Oberamt was formed. The ten patrimonial offices subordinate to him , the layout of which reflected the previous rule, were abolished in 1809 when the new Oberamt Ochsenhausen was merged from parts of the Oberamt Biberach and Waldsee. After the Paris border treaty established the Bavarian- Württemberg border along the Iller in 1810 , and thus some places that had fallen to Bavaria in 1806 had come to Württemberg, the administrative structure underwent further changes: the Oberamt Wiblingen emerged from the northern part of the Oberamt Biberach. The Oberamt Ochsenhausen was abolished and (with the exception of a few places) incorporated into the Oberamt Biberach.

Neighbors of the district, which was assigned to the Danube District from 1818 to 1924, were the Württemberg regional authorities of Riedlingen , Ehingen , Wiblingen (later Laupheim), Leutkirch and Waldsee and the Kingdom of Bavaria.

Changes in the community since 1813

marks around 1860

After the constitution of 1819 had prepared the basis for local self-government , the municipalities were constituted from the mayor's offices in the modern sense, which took almost a decade in the Oberamt Biberach. The State Handbook of 1824 only lists 31 municipalities. By 1828, Ahlen, Aufhofen, Birkenhard, Fischbach, Füramoos, Grodt, Höfen, Laupertshausen, Mettenberg, Rißegg and Volkersheim were elevated to independent communities, and a number of re-communities were carried out: Ellmannsweiler came from Bergerhausen to Laupertshausen, houses and winter reeds from Bergerhausen Ummendorf, bark moss from Muttensweiler to Reute, quake house from Ummendorf to Mittelbuch.

In 1835, Wennedach was changed from Hürbel to Reinstetten.

In 1842 the communities of Alberweiler (from the Ehingen Oberamt) and Stafflangen (from the Waldsee Oberamt) came to the Biberach Oberamt. In the same year Kemnat, which in 1820 belonged to the municipality of Ummendorf, then temporarily to Bellamont and from around 1830 to Fischbach, finally belonged to Bellamont.

In 1844 Winterreute was changed from Ummendorf to Ringschnait.

In 1849 Oberdorf was separated from Mittelbiberach and made an independent municipality.

In 1852, Sommershausen was reassigned from Hürbel to Reinstetten.

In 1854 the Glaserhof was moved from Gutenzell to Oberbalzheim (Oberamt Laupheim).

Around 1860 Westerflach was reassigned from Ingerkingen to Untersulmetingen.

In 1864 Birkendorf was incorporated into Biberach.

In 1934 Bergerhausen was incorporated into Biberach and Oberdorf was incorporated back into Mittelbiberach.
