Austria took part in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul with a delegation of 73 athletes, 66 of them men and six women. The standard bearer at the opening ceremony was the sailor Hubert Raudaschl .

Austria could only win one medal in Seoul: Judoka Peter Seisenbacher won gold in the men's middleweight division.
