Technical Grammy Award

The Technical Grammy Award is an award given by the US Recording Academy in Los Angeles to individuals and / or companies who have made contributions of outstanding technical importance to the field of sound recording.

History and background

The Recording Academy, which has presented the Grammy Awards annually since 1959 in 84 categories to artists such as singers , composers , musicians as well as production managers and sound engineering , awards several general prizes in addition to these main prizes for recordings and works from a specific year, including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award , the Grammy Trustees Award , the Grammy Legend Award, and the MusiCares Person of the Year Award .

Since 1994, the special Technical Grammy Award has also been awarded. The award goes to individuals and / or companies who have made a technical contribution to improving sound recordings. The award was first presented to Thomas Stockham Jr. in 1994 .
