The Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album (dt. Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album ) is a music award , which regularly at annual since 1995 Grammy Awards will be awarded. This award is given to performers who released an album of particularly high quality in the field of pop music in the previous year .

Background and story

The Grammy Awards (actually Grammophone Awards) have been presented annually since 1959 for artistic achievement, technical competence and overall musical achievement in various categories by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS), regardless of the number of sales of the work.

In 1968 , a prize with similar criteria was awarded for the first time, at that time under the name Best Contemporary Album . The Beatles received the award for their album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band . However, after only one award, the award was abolished; between 1969 and 1994 there were no other awards in this area. It was not until 1995 that the award was reintroduced under the name Best Pop Album . It has been awarded under its current name since 2001. To win the award, the album must have at least 51% new vocals.
