Grammy Awards 2020

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Grammy Awards 2020 were on January 26 in the Staples Center of Los Angeles awarded. It was the 62nd award of the Grammys , the most important US music award . Musicians, songwriters and other successful players in the music business were recognized in 84 different categories. The basis was publications between October 1, 2018 and August 31, 2019. Because the Oscar awards were brought forward, the period was shortened by one month and the award was moved to January in order to avoid a scheduling conflict. The nominations were announced on November 20, 2019. For the second time in a row, Alicia Keys hosted the award show in January 2020.

The big winner of the evening was the 18-year-old newcomer Billie Eilish , who won all four main categories and the pop album category. She was successful in five of the six categories in which she was nominated. Only the Best Pop Solo Performance did not go to Billie Eilish, but to Lizzo . The R&B musician was the most successful artist with eight nominations in the run-up, but was only able to win two R&B Grammys in addition to the Pop Grammy. The rapper Lil Nas X , also highly rated with six nominations , who had set a new record at number 1 in the charts at 19 weeks with his song Old Town Road , had to be satisfied with a single award as the best pop duet. After all, the song was recognized as the best video of the year .

In addition to Billie Eilish's success, there were also two Grammys for her album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? which was named Best Production and earned her brother Finneas O'Connell Producer of the Year. Including his participation as a writer on the song of the year Bad Guy , he received three awards. Gary Clark Jr. also received three Grammys with two Rock and one Blues Grammy. Other multiple award winners included the Chemical Brothers with both Grammys in the dance / electronic area and Anderson Paak , who also received two R&B Grammys. Nipsey Hussle , the rapper who died in 2019, was posthumously honored with two rap Grammys. Tanya Tucker won her first two Grammys with country music and gospel musician Kirk Franklin was also successful twice. Jacob Collier has received two awards as arranger.
