Center-Bozner Boden-Rentsch ( Italian Centro-Piani-Rencio ) is the largest and most easterly of the five districts of the South Tyrolean capital Bozen ( Italy ). In addition to the town hall, most of the regional offices, the seat of the South Tyrolean provincial government , the South Tyrolean parliament , four of the six theaters in the city, all cinemas, the city's most important museums and the oldest streets in Bolzano are located in the district.

geography

The district occupies the northeast of the Bolzano basin in the Adige Valley . The area is bounded by the Talfer in the west. In the north the quarter extends to the exit of the Sarntal and the southern slopes of the Renon . In the east it extends to the lowest sections of the Eisack Valley and Eggent Valley . In the southeast on the orographic left side of the Eisack , Kohlern am Regglberg belongs to the district.

The old town of Bolzano lies at the lower end of an alluvial cone of the Talfer, which flows out of the Sarntal. Above the Bolzano soil, loose sediments from ice age gravel and moraine deposits offer ideal conditions for viticulture. They are particularly well trained in the Malgrei St. Magdalena and St. Justina , which are known for the wine of the same name . These are counted among the best vineyards in South Tyrol. The reddish quartz porphyry stands on the valley flanks above , followed by the wide low mountain range on Renon .

structure

The district consists of the old town of Bozen (cadastral municipality Bozen) and the former Malgrei Zollstange (today called Zwölfmalgrei ), St. Peter auf Karnol , St. Johann im Dorf , Rentsch , St. Magdalena , St. Justina (with St. Justina in Prazöll ), Bozner Leitach , Kampill (with St. Martin in Kampill ), Kampenn (with Kohlern ) and Virgl as well as the Bozner Boden industrial park .

The area of the Laubengasse with the centrally located Kornplatz forms the center of the originally medieval old town of Bolzano, which extends in the south to Waltherplatz , the cathedral and the Dominican Church. These are connected to the Wangener Vorstadt in the north, the sovereign suburb in the west and the historic districts of Rain and Gurmental in the south-east, which are less regularly designed medieval city extensions than in the old town center. The area east of the old town to the foot of the slope from St. Peter auf Karnol and St. Magdalena was built in the early days. The Bozner Boden industrial park extends beyond the railway line to the south-east of the center.

history

Since the historic old town belongs to the quarter, the prehistory of the quarter largely corresponds to the history of Bolzano . The name of the city of Bolzano does not go back to the previously unspecified Roman military station Pons Drusi . The actual establishment of an urban market settlement in the area of today's old town took place in the later 12th century , with no direct documentary evidence for the establishment process. There are different opinions as to whether the newly founded market settlement - in view of the ground plan and a relatively small area of only 69 hectares (1828) - was planned by twelve - malgree within older village centers or whether it already existed in the 11th century. The Bolzano soil itself is documented as early as the late 15th century under the names "Poden pey Botzenn" or "Poden vnder Rentsch gegen dem Eysagk" .

The district itself, like the other Bolzano districts, was established in 1995. In 1998 the South Tyrolean Archeology Museum was opened, which houses the glacier mummy Ötzi . In 2009, the largest cinema in the city, the Cineplexx Bozen with seven halls, was opened on Bozner Boden .

There are also three private grammar schools ( Franziskanergymnasium , Pädagogisches Gymnasium and Realgymnasium Rainerum) and the Free University of Bozen .

Social facilities

Due to the central location, all important social facilities are in the district. Local associations, corporations and political parties can use the multi-purpose hall “Premstallerhof” in Dolomitenstraße (with the Bozner Boden office ) and the late Renaissance mansion “Lammwirt” ( Lampl ) on Rentscher Straße, which was completely restored in 2010 to disposal.

In the old town these are the Bolzano Cathedral (Assumption of Mary) , the Franciscan Church , the Dominican Church , St. Antonius (Capuchin Church ) , the Sacred Heart Church ( Eucharist ) and St. Georg in Weggenstein ( Coming from the Teutonic Order).
