==Your note on my talk page==
I got your note regarding the notability tag on my talk page and replied there. I also added a note to the talk page of the article. Can we keep the discussion on the talk page for the article moving forward please? It might be useful for other editors of that article to be able to easily find the discussion. AfD nomination of Chicken hunter wanted

The nightly prime time newscast on a commercial television network is inherently notable. Bearcat 21:59, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, as I can get more information on it beyond the basics. TQS doesn't actually have separate web pages about its news programs; they just all redirect back to the network's news website itself. Bearcat 22:08, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn't the article that it's redirected to get deleted? And it should be db-bio or db-music, not db-ad. Corvus cornix 23:50, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Joseph B. Cryer

I am learning here.. Please forgive me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cryer1966 (talkcontribs) 00:05, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

yes, but that article says very little about him being decorated, and gives far less information about the WWII hero himself. This article has no references, and in my mind does not meet WP:BIO. Tiptoety 00:28, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, well another user removed the speedy tag agreeing with you, so i just did a AfD instead, thank you, Tiptoety 00:33, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Visualization

Hey there - Not sure why you flagged my page Wiki Visualization for speedy deletion. I was in the process of editing it when you tagged it, so perhaps not all the content was up? In fact, it may not be the appropriate place for that kind of page, but I am trying to connect with individuals who are interested in doing an open source visual mapping of wikipedia (as is explained on the page). Please advise if I should place this page elsewhere. Thank you for the assistance. SlvrDreams 02:04, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks for the info. I didn't realize that. Is it something I can put on my sandbox in my user page? The problem is that I don't really know of any good connection points outside of WP to connect with people that might have the programming knowledge to help. SlvrDreams 02:20, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hiya Rodhullandemu. I've declined the speedy deletion of the above, as notability was asserted. You may want to take it to WP:AFD however. Pedro :  Chat  08:49, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. I'll watchlist and if it still looks lousy in a few days I might AfD it anyhow. Thanks. Pedro :  Chat  15:28, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question: why revert the changes I did on The Fifth Element

I know that we're trying to keep the plot short (I did a trimming down a couple days ago for it), and had just made some cleanups, better wording, and adding actors/characters names where appropriate, but you had undone that revision without additional comments, I'm just wondering if that was intentional, if it looking like pointless editing or vandalism, or what, as I was trying to improve upon what was already there without adding too many more words. --Masem 02:43, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there - I just deleted this article, but changed your reasoning - I deleted it as a non-notable group (A7). Just letting you know my reason for a variance from your request. :-) - Philippe | Talk 05:27, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bites of the cherry...

Great screen name. I saw Rod Hull and his Emu on "The Hudson Brothers" and other shows when I was a kid. Anyway, there's no rule against posting multiple comments, but everyone is permitted only one vote (keep, delete, etc). You can change your vote by putting the character "< s >" on one side and "</ s>" on the other side and then it crosses through what you had before, like this . Thus, Nick Graves (or anyone else) can write lots of comments, but an administrator would count his opinion only once. As with anything else in society, there's no limit to what one CAN say, but there's a practical limit on how much one SHOULD say. Rightly or wrongly, there is the perception that someone who comments persistently in one conversation is insecure about whether they're being taken seriously. While a reply is sometimes necessary to a comment responding to your first statement, getting into long conversations in a deletion discussion is usually unnecessary. Nick's okay, he's just a man with strong opinions. Mandsford 16:12, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, Just wondering why you nominated Bossacucanova for speedy deletion. I realize it was deleted twice before, but I put its notability requirement in the first edit summary. Most of my work on here isn't done in the music sphere, so I was just wondering if I missed something pertinent in creating a band article that I was not aware of.

Thanks! matt91486 02:43, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Once, again, thanks much - I have a terrible time figuring out to put things about bands without sounding like a PR person. I'll continue trying to improve the article to remove any ambiguity. matt91486 02:53, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your comment about vincotto

Either what? Badagnani 02:00, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I see. You had "flavour" as well and I changed it to "flavor," and I thought "ageing" might also be a British spelling. We've used U.S. spelling in this article so I just standardized it. I'd never heard about vincotto before you added that, so it's really fascinating. How did you find out about this stuff? Badagnani 02:05, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New page patrol

Thank you for patrolling new pages. However, could you consider watching the bottom of the Special:Newpages log instead of the top? Marking pages that are mere minutes old for speedy deletion is in my opinion only appropriate in case of nonsense or attack pages; any author who makes a good faith effort to write a page should be given a few moments to be fixed. Oh, and you should not use speedy deletion at all on pages like Mishmar Haemek: a kibbutz is more than just some random group. When there is any doubt, use WP:PROD or WP:AFD instead. Thank you, Kusma (talk) 10:53, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rodhullandemu - I've declined the speedy on the above as the band does seem to have one notable album. You may like to take it to WP:AFD if you wish. Pedro :  Chat  11:41, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This page is a companion to Wikipedia:Admins willing to make difficult blocks [2] but for editors. That page has existed for ~18 months and seems useful.

Hello - someone has moved it out of main space - Is it ok to remove the speedy delete tag in that case?

Thanks Uncle uncle uncle 02:09, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well that particular quote, I don't see that as necessary since its a small partial quote. But I do love to blockquote really notable stuff, so I cquoted the rest of the quote. Oh I see what you mean, I'll just merge them with an ellipse, as I don't know if they go together. - RoyBoy 800 01:57, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually bad idea, I took a page from your book (previous BR edit) and removed it entirely since its a redundant statement. Summarization feels good. - RoyBoy 800 02:00, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

World Record Club

Hi, There must be some special department of admin in WP specially devoted to getting rid of articles about Record companies! Is this a policy or something? I spent one and a half hours getting down the first few sentences about this company, as I found it listed for development into an article, and as soon as I saved the first bit, before adding categories or anything else, along came Phgao and tagged it for instant deletion. So I saved him the trouble and wiped it for him. Now I see you have looked at it and don't think it's worth keeping 'cos there's nothing in it! Well not surprising really, as I removed what I had written. I'm surprised anything at all gets written for Wikipedia at that rate. No sooner do you start writing than someone comes and stamps on you. Really though, look at this list and you will see that all sorts of other record companies are being written up as worthy of Encyclopedic content, and from many points of view discographical information can be very useful. List of record labels starting with W. I wasn't out on a limb. What's the point of killing an article before someone can write it? Who decides that the subject isn't suitable, before the article is written? After all, Jimbo didn't make anybody into the next King...Sedgefoot 02:01, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thankyou very much indeed for what you did, I have reversed my heart attack and replaced what I was working on! And will continue to work. It had already been scotched by User:Phgao, and then I had deleted it having got the message that it wasn't wanted. So it was no surprise that you then went to it, because there was nothing there by then, owing to a small thermo-nuclear explosion in my head, and it was natural for you to add your tag. It all happened in about 5 minutes, or so it seemed. I have taken a deep breath, and I am very grateful to you for setting the situation right for me. Thankyou. Sedgefoot 02:33, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

While writing that have just seen your last message, and will go to it. Cheers Sedgefoot 02:33, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability concerns and speedy deletions

Hi. :) Thanks for your hard work on new page patrol. Very important, in my opinion, especially when it comes to copyright violations or attack pages. I'm just dropping you a note to remind you that speedy deletion can only be used to address notability concerns as they apply to people, groups of people, or web content. WP:CSD#Non-criteria specifies that "there is no consensus to speedily delete articles of types not specifically listed in A7 under that criterion". When we encounter non-notable songs, as indicated at Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion/Explanations, we need to prod them or list them for WP:AfD. I know it's frustrating when you encounter something clearly not-notable to have to go through those extra steps, but current consensus is that this is the proper procedure. Anyway, I just wanted to clarify that one point. Keep up the good work. :) --Moonriddengirl 12:48, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not a problem. It's a common source of confusion. :) --Moonriddengirl 14:31, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Neolestat

Hi! Without wanting to start a big argument here and get myself banned or blocked, please can you tell me where an encyclopaediac entry stops and spamming begins? If you take the Wakamezake entry for example, I defy you to show another gallery on the internet that shows the practice as clearly as mine does. Isn't that what Wiki is for? Surely then my entry is valid?

As to the removal of my page... Why are Richard Kern and Petter Hegre allowed entries and I am not? I work with two of the biggest names on the UK fetish scene on a regular basis and am a 'known name'/'brand'. Nothing I entered was false, I can provide links and references to every claim I made. By the ruling, every photographic artist that has a link to their own page should also be considered spamming?

Finally. You state that Wiki links to my work won't improve my Google ranking... Weird as it may seem did it occur to you that I might not have that aim anyway?

I'd be very interested to hear your reply :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Neolestat 1 uk (talkcontribs) 23:39, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Phenomenon (philosophy)

At WP:PHYSICS we have reached the consensus that the two definitions of phenomenon (the physics one and the philosophy one) deserve separate pages as they are separate concepts. I am in the process of giving these topics their own pages. Right now the there is information in the philosophy phenomenon page that over laps the information in the physics phenomenon page but this will soon change. Could you please not delete the page? Sorry about the misunderstanding- I guess I should have left a note on the discussion page. Thanks Beast of traal T C _ 01:01, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Beast of traal[reply]

Oh no. Sorry. The Phenomenon (philosophy) page is about philosophy. The pages were just reorganized. Before Phenomenon was a philosophy/physics page and Physical Phenomenon was a physics page. What we have done is merge the information on the physics definition to one page and move the philosophy information to another page. It is possible that the page "Phenomenon" could be used as a disambiguation page for Phenomenon (philosophy) and a "Phenomenon (physics)"page, but since the physical definition is the primary one we used "Phenomenon" page for physics. Is this enough of an explanation for you to remove the delete tag? Thanks and sorry about the miscommunication, Beast of traal T C _ 01:36, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Beast of traal[reply]

Re: Speedy Tags

I used the tag I used because both are equally valid for this article; its a spam article of a non-notable corporation. One or the other is enough for an admin to speedy-delete the article. db-spam is usually reserved for articles that read like advertisement expressely, such as those containing phone numbers, contact information, and "menus" of services provided. However, I have never seen that an admin has been so arbitrary as to refuse to delete an article for so small an issue as a disagreement over which db tag to use. If the db tag gets disputed, then bring it up for AFD and further discussion. Anything else I can help you with? --Jayron32|talk|contribs 01:40, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

db-attack and db-copyvio are usually deleted within seconds for liability reasons; other db's require endorsement (IIRC) of atleast 2 admins, often they are left up for a few hours to give the article creators a chance to place the hangon tag and explain themselves, per WP:BITE. Otherwise, keep fighting the good fight! --Jayron32|talk|contribs 01:50, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, you prodded the article on the Hogettes. The prod was removed, but there is clear indication of notability. Christine Andersen

No problem, happy to help. When the link was added to the Log page, it cut off the (2nd nomination) tag. The result was that it tried to transclude an AfD for Christine Andersen - which doesn't exist, since the current one is the 2nd nom. Just drop a quoted sentence into Google, usually works. If you get several hits, put -wikipedia in the query. Usually narrows down the source. --Rodhullandemu (talk - contribs) 00:36, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, yes, although I knew copyvio or not, it was getting deleted (more than likely). jj137 (Talk) 00:37, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The difference is that copyvios and attacks can cause legal liability for the Foundation, so they are priorities for the deleting admins, and tagging editors. And if someone had put a hangon on the page, the copyvio would have been publicly visible in the meantime, possibly to the copyright owner. Not good. --Rodhullandemu (talk - contribs) 00:42, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, yes, definitely. I didn't realize just how important copyvios are...I should spend some time on that. Thanks for the help. jj137 (Talk) 01:53, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
