Frightened Rabbit were a British indie rock band from Glasgow .

Band history

The band was formed in 2004 by brothers Scott and Grant Hutchison after Scott had previously used the name Frightened Rabbit for solo appearances. Together with their friend Billy Kennedy they made a name for themselves as a trio in their homeland. In 2006 they released their debut album, Sing the Grays , which received such good reviews that they signed Universal and released the album across the UK and USA. International appearances, including at South by Southwest 2007, followed.

Before the second album The Midnight Organ Fight they took keyboardist Andy Monaghan into the band. The breakthrough came with the third studio album The Winter of Mixed Drinks in spring 2010. In the meantime, the band with Gordon Skene had grown to five members. With the album they made it for the first time in both the British and the US album charts.

Singer and guitarist Scott Hutchison was reported missing on May 9, 2018. On the evening of May 10th, his body was found on the banks of the River Forth . The cause of death was initially unclear, but suicide is suspected. Hutchinson had a long history of depression and posted a message on Twitter shortly before his disappearance that could be interpreted as a suicidal message.

The remaining band members said about the future of the band that the band would "no longer exist without Scott", but left open the possibility of releasing previously unreleased material.
