Steven Stamkos (born February 7, 1990 in Scarborough, Ontario [1]) is a Canadian junior ice hockey player of Macedonian descent.[2] He currently plays for the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League, and was their first overall pick in the 2006 draft, from the Markham Waxers of the OMHA.[3]
Stamkos attends school at Northern Collegiate Institute and Vocational School (NCIVS) in Sarnia,Ontario.
In September 2007, TSN called Stamkos the player most likely to be taken #1 in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.[4]
