Twelve-year-old Jerry Saddler and his sister Terri go to visit their cousins Bradford "Brad" Saddler and his wife Agatha, who live near a cemetery - as well as a beach that has a scary cave which is the subject of local legends. Jerry and Terri are told by local kids named Sam, Louisa, and Nat that the cave is haunted, but of course they decide they need to check it out for themselves and journey off to explore it. A flickering light entices the kids in and soon they wish they would have heeded the warnings. Late one night, Jerry sneaks out to find out where the flickering light is coming from. Terri also sneaks out. The flickering light turns out to be a mysterious man's candle.
