Welcome

Hello, FoxLad, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} and your question on your user talk page, and someone will show up shortly to answer. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

We hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on talk and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 08:03, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good work with the new billiards articles

Please join the Cue Sports WikiProject, where such articles are coordinated from. You'd be an asset, and many resources are available there including terminology guidelines, useful templates, etc. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 08:03, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't add redundant categories

Doing this:

[[Category:German pool players]]
[[Category:European pool players]]

is a mistake. We do not add redundant, more general categories to article that already have a more specific category. See Wikipedia:Categorization for more info on how to use categories correctly. :-) — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 16:56, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Search engine

{{help me}} When an article has been made in Wikipedia, how long does it take before it could appear in a list of results retrieved by a search engine?

It's hard to put an exact figure on it because it rather varies. However, pages may often appear on Google within as soon as a few days. Other search engines tend to be a little bit slower at updating. Will (aka Wimt) 00:40, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've reverted your recent edits to List of characters from My Gym Partner's a Monkey. The talk page shows consensus regarding character descriptions, and this information is not within that consensus. If you feel otherwise, please discuss it on the talk page. For now, I think consensus stands. Yngvarr 19:03, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Watchlist

{{helpme}}I add pages that interest me in my watchlist to check any new changes that occur. I wonder, why some changes don't appear on my watchlist even though I "watched" those pages.

All changes should be listed on you watchlist. If it is not updated, there are two reasons I can think of now:
  1. Because there are so many people using and editing Wikipedia, it takes some time to get the list updated. However in this case, you will usually see a message saying that the list is not updated properly.
  2. Some pages contains templates, which can be inserted into another page. Changing a template will not place pages that are using the template into your watchlist.
I hope this clears up your question. If this is not the case, please feel free to ask again with some examples if possible. :) eDenE 00:09, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
In addition to the above, Be sure that you've gone into Preferences, and selected your options. You may choose to hide your own edits, bot edits, and minor edits. Most likely one (or more) of those is checked, thus you won't see those changes made. You can choose to hide all those options individually from the main "my watchlist" page, on a day-by-day basis if you wish. Hope that helps! ArielGold 00:10, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Burger Machine, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Little context in Tokyo Tokyo

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Tokyo Tokyo, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Tokyo Tokyo is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Tokyo Tokyo, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Please Give a Response on This!

I'm constantly trying to figure out where to go to post ideas like creating an episode list or uploading images to Iggy Arbuckle, but I keep turning up empty-handed. Couldn't you please direct me to where the administrators could be notified about these problems? You can just leave a link to the proper page on my talkpage. Thanks! Wilhelmina Will 18:00, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, as you may have noticed, someone was kind enough to upload an image for the show template, and I'm glad of that. But of course, the characters still need images of themselves. The main problem is that, contrary to what you said on the discussion page of the article, the internet lacks such images. I've looked everywhere I could think of, but I haven't been able to find any, unless there's one or more sites I missed along the way. Got any ideas??? (If so, please mention them in the article's discussion page.) Wilhelmina Will 02:43, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is a repeat of a question I made on Iggy Arbuckle's discussion page, but I figured you'd notice it sooner over hear: I was wondering... would it be considered speculation to say that Kira and Jiggers seem to be attracted to each other? Or is it worth noting? See, I personally would have said it's worth noting because if you watch the way they tend to behave around each other, especially when speaking to each other, it seems highly likely that they like each other in that way... Wilhelmina Will 06:09, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, have you seen "Any Friend of Yours//Miner Misfortunes"? If so, then you may have noticed on several occasions in the first of those stories (e.g., 1. Jiggers is concerned that a hole in the roof of the tourist kiosk will cause the rain to soak Kira, though there are no rain clouds. 2. Kira and Jiggers eyes both shut half-way in a dreamy manner when they're looking at each other.) that Kira and Jiggers appear to have developed an attraction. Templates

I patrol new pages as they are created. If you're not familiar with that practice, I click the right link in the menu of special pages and get the last 50 articles or other pages created. I then apply the templates and do other work that is necessary on that group. That's how I found the article you're interested in. If other similar articles don't contain the same templates, it is because I haven't seen them. The question that needs to be answered is whether the templates are appropriate (in this case, I submit they are). If you choose to go around to similar articles and add those templates, feel free. That's not what I do, though. What you can't do is remove the templates and claim as your justification that some other article does not have them. That's not how this project works. I hope this is helpful to you. If not, feel free to ask more questions. Happy editing. Erechtheus 04:27, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pancho Villa

Hi FoxLad,

I've got two comments about your recent change of Pancho Villa to a disambiguation page.

  1. When you created Doroteo Arango Arámbula‎, you performed it by making a Wikipedia:Cut and paste move. This is not a good way to create a different name for an article, because you lose the history of the page. If you look at the history of the new article, it shows you as the only author, when really, of course, there were lots of people who contributed to that. I'n going to put a speedy delete tag on the new article, and revert the Pancho Villa page back to it's old version, before it was a dab page, because whether or not we end up re-arranging the page names this way (see below), we should do it right. The correct way is to move Pancho Villa to Doroteo Arango Arámbula‎ (after it has been deleted), and then edit the remnants of the Pancho Villa page to be a disambiguation page.
  2. I don't think I actually agree with this move anyway. Generally, a disambiguation page is needed when there are multiple meanings of an article names, and no single one of them can be considered a primary topic. In this case, I think the Mexican general is pretty obviously the primary topic, by which I mean, this is the subject a large majority of people will be searching for when they type "Pancho Villa" into the search box. That's what disambiguation links are for. Think of it this way; the way it was before, if the majority of people wanted the Mexican general article, they would go directly there. The minority interested in the Filipino boxer would have to make one extra click, by following the link at the top of the article. The way you changed it, everyone, interested in either meaning, has to make two clicks. See WP:DAB for more info.

The first concern, I'm going to go ahead and change, because it clearly follows policy. The second concern is just my opinion, and if you still disagree and want to discuss some more, feel free to comment at Talk:Pancho Villa (I'll keep it on my watchlist), or on my talk page, or here on your talk page (I'll keep it on my watchlist too). --barneca (talk) 23:54, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Remember that Discussion I Brought up About an Episode List?

Well, I thought that over, and I decided that before that can be started, there ought to be something to base it on. So I looked over those episodes which the anonymous user put in that discussion thread, and I selected "Iggy vs. the Volcano//A Dip in the Pole". Then I watched it carefully the next time it aired, and I wrote down the plot summary the best I could. I don't know if I could create the article for the page, but you've created the page for Iggy Arbuckle, so if I can't, you probably could. Then, once articles have been created for all the other episodes, a page which combines all of the links to these articles into a tidy list can be created.

First, since you're the one who created the main page, I'd like your opinion on it. I'll start another section on your talk page, and in there I'll include all of the information I wrote. Then you read it over, and (preferrably on my talkpage) tell me if it's good, and/or what needs to be changed or repaired. Thanks! Wilhelmina Will 03:21, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replied to: Plots Summaries

Thank you for those tips, but I'm afraid you may have left a few things out. What I'm referring to is: 1. Which article you meant by including a category for Iggy Arbuckle episodes at the bottom of, and 2. What sorts of info would be considered sufficient enough that the new articles wouldn't suffer speed deletion? (Again, I'd like for your answer to be left on my talkpage, thank you.) Wilhelmina Will 04:37, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you again for the tips; and just so you know: Yes, the episodes will be in separate articles. But I think that since "Iggy vs. the Volcano" and "A Dip in the Pole", are really just two stories in the same episode, they should be in the same article as each other, as I mapped it out. I suppose I'll delete the plots from your talkpage after the new article is created, so that no suspicions arise in other users. Wilhelmina Will 04:37, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Now that the article has been created, and now that an infobox has been constructed for the list of episodes, I think it would be a good idea to get the rest of the episode articles created ASAP. If you could tell me on my talkpage which other episodes you have seen, I'll get to work on draft copies of the articles for them. Thank you. Wilhelmina Will 23:55, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've redirected Save the Drama for Your Llama to the main episode list as the content is unnecessary given of the episode in question. Figured I'd tell you because creating articles for episodes of no particular significance to the show is seen as adding info of little importance. It might happen elsewhere but the Cartoon Network project which oversees the CN articles needs to make sure there's consistency for what gets an article and what doesn't as part of our criteria for notability.

Thanks for the input anyway. --treelo talk 14:49, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Semih Sayginer.jpeg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Semih Sayginer.jpeg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 18:48, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Baby Looney Tunes

Hi, I just noticed that a template you created, Template:Baby Looney Tunes, is unused and appears to be abandoned. I've marked it as deprecated, meaning it'll be deleted in two weeks' time if nobody objects. If there's a reason to keep it please leave a note at Wikipedia talk:Deprecated and orphaned templates and feel free to remove the {{deprecated}} tag from the template. Thanks. Re: Metric height suggestion

Height should be entered using the {{height}} template, so it really doesn't matter. The conversion will be shown, and the unit with the greater precision will be shown first. east.718 at 03:31, November 30, 2007

Re:Height

Well, basically the "standard" is codified by the height template itself, where human height is displayed in meters. You have a point: height in centimeters is also very common. The template works the way it works, though. And I'm sure you'd agree: it doesn't matter that much whether it's m or cm as long it's consistent across all articles... AfD nomination of Marco Zanetti

An editor has nominated Marco Zanetti, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Marco Zanetti and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 01:59, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Baby Sylvester

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Baby Sylvester, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? treelo talk 16:24, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

With all due respect, may I please invite you for/to Comment (on my edits (of Ten-ball) on its talk page) - [1] I desire and will appreciate, that, if you have time, please read my evidence. Basically, I and User:Cma or Mr. Dominique Gerald Cimafranca, both from the Philippines and both alumni and student, respectively, of Ateneo de Manila University-Ateneo Law School (1974 and 1982) and Ateneo de Davao (student, present), respectively, had had personal angers, hatred, and differences which spilled here in Wikipedia with Max. There were long battles between us 3 for blocking:

In law, there is no other best evidence of stalking than this. Stalking is a crime and punished under all foreign laws and by Wikipedia by blocking[4]
IN FINE, I desire that you edit and amend, my edits-contributions on Ten-ball, Niels Feijen, Wu Chia-ching and Darren Appleton, where, my Wikipedia stalker User:Maxschmelling had raised issues of my alleged violation of Wikipedia policies on editing. The Philippines, my country will never forget this event, and please visit our country. Cheers.
