Satyajit Mayor

(born 1963)[1] is an Indian biologist. He is the Director at the National Centre for Biological Sciences, Bangalore. In 2012, Mayor won the Infosys Prize for life sciences for his study of regulated cell surface organization and membrane dynamics.[2]

Early life

Mayor obtained his masters from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.

Career

His doctoral work, done under George A.M. Cross's supervision, concerned biosynthesizing GPI anchors in Trypanosoma brucei, in the molecular parasitology lab at Rockefeller University.
