Scott Ryan Williamson (born February 17, 1976 in Fort Polk North, Louisiana) is a Major League Baseball right-handed relief pitcher who plays with the Boston Red Sox. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 9th round of the 1997 amateur draft and made his debut in 1999. He was traded to the Red Sox during the 2003 season.

In his inaugural season, Williamson went 12-7 with 107 strike outs, a 2.41 earned run average and 19 saves, made the All-Star team, and earned Rookie of the Year honors.

Williamson is an overhand pitcher with a good command of his breaking ball. He also has the 90-plus fastball and hard slider that should produce more strikeouts, especially as a closer, but sometimes he fall into the habit of getting ahead of hitters and then not being able to get a third strike. He is also in need of some kind of offspeed pitch to give hitters a different look. When he gets in trouble he's going to come at hitters with his hard fastball. Williamson holds runners close through repeated moves to first and that more than compensates for a slow move. He is a solid fielder who does not get rattled.

In five seasons, Williamson compiled a 25-23 record with 401 strikeouts, 3.13 ERA, and 54 saves in 241 games.

The Red Sox still have hopes for Williamson, but they're looking for more consistency from him this season. He could end up being a solid middle reliever.
