Project 1 Motorsport, formerly known as tolimit Motorsport, is a German motorsport team founded by Hans-Bernd Kamps and Jörg Michaels in 1993 to compete in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and Porsche Supercup. The team changed their name from tolimit Motorsport to Project 1 in 2013. Based in Lohne, the team has won eighteen championships in the two Porsche series, and has expanded in 2018 to the FIA World Endurance Championship and 2019 the European Le Mans Series

The Project 1 Motorsport Story

„Our season began in 1993 and has never ended!” Within 24 years, tolimit Motorsport had transformed into Project 1, a hobby had grown into a professional team and newcomers had become champions. We look back on an exciting and amazing story.

The era begins – the tolimit brand is born: driven by a great passion, Hans-Bernd Kamps and Jörg Michaelis found tolimit. Working by the motto “Everything they can do, we can do better”, the team quickly becomes a firm fixture in Porsche race series.

The first season – Hans-Bernd Kamps, Frank Böhm, Bernhard Schnell and Friedrich W. Künnemeyer are the first tolimit drivers. tolimit soon made waves in the paddock, becoming the first team to provide their own catering service rather than relying on fast food.

We join forces with Deutsche Post – a longstanding and strong friendship develops from the partnership and continues up to the present day. We have celebrated many victories together, and will continue to do so moving forward, and our partnership is far more than a traditional sponsorship agreement. Deutsche Post is part of our family.

We are the champions – tolimit wins the Porsche Carrera Cup and the team championship with Christian Menzel, giving tolimit its first titles. It’s a deserved reward after years of hard work.

tolimit for the second time – we win the Porsche Sports Cup championship with employee Micha – the first tolimit works driver. The team experiments and lays the foundation for numerous successful trainee programmes. Many drivers are big names in motorsport today.

Beyond borders – another special partnership is sealed: together with Abu Dhabi, tolimit sets up ‘Team Abu Dhabi by tolimit’ and becomes a fixed part of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. Once again we show what sets up apart from the rest.

tolimit motorsport into attack mode – Team Deutsche Post by tolimit takes the Porsche Carrera Cup team championship title. Sean comes second in the driver standings, followed by Jeroen Bleekemolen in third place. We finish the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season in second position in the teams championship, and are fourth and sixth in the driver standings. We also tackle our first endurance race and finish fourth at the first attempt in the 24 Hours of Dubai.

The best Porsche team – René Rast wins the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland driver championship ahead of Sean Edwards. We also take the teams’ championship and enter the annals of motorsport history. We stand for perfection, sporting ambition and success.

The year of change – a year which makes things different for Project 1. First, we rename the company: tolimit becomes Project 1. With our motto “Be cool. Be fast. Be first.”, we aim to remain at the peak of the motorsport world. Sadly, we have to continue without our friends Sean and Kosta, who pass away far too young. We dominated the championship together up until the finale in Abu Dhabi and it wouldn’t have been possible without them. We won’t forget you and will carry on your success.

A success story starts a new chapter – a gigantic season lies behind us. We entered four cars in Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland and three in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. But success is what counts in the end, and “Team Deutsche Post by Project 1” wins the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland driver championship with Philipp Eng. We also secure the runners-up position in the team classification and third place in the Supercup team classification.

The most successful year in our history – 5 from 6 possible titles. Philipp Eng clinches the driver titles in both the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland and the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. Two rookie titles are added: Alex Toril in the Carrera Cup and Matteo Cairoli in the Supercup. Last but not least, Project 1 wins the teams’ championship in the Carrera Cup. Success borne of hard work and the unconditional will to combine sporting excellence and technical expertise and maintain a competitive advantage over the competition across the board.

The next wave of talent on the horizon – following on from our huge success in 2015, we look for new challenges in 2016 in the form of David Kolkmann and Nick Yelloly. At the beginning of the year, both sit in a closed race car for the first time and have to be systematically introduced to GT sport. The programme is a resounding success! With two podium finishes, we prove that it’s possible to transform rookies into podium candidates within just seven months.

Team Championship – With 402 points we win with our drivers Nick Yelloy, Larry ten Voorde and David Kolkmann the team championship. This championship title stands for the hard work since our reorientation in 2016 like no other. Our “Flying Dutchman” Larry ten Voorde gets through a perfect racing driver training in cooperation with the Fast Track Racing Center, rookie champ. Nick Yelloly becomes the second place with just 13 points behind the champion Dennis Olsen. David Kolkmann focused more on the FTRC after a season with a lot of learning and wants to incorporate his experience into the training of young talents.

The biggest motorsport program in the history for Project 1 – This year the team is dedicated in the Carrera Cup, Supercup and for the first time in the FIA WEC Endurance Championship. At that time, a result of today seemes far away but now, it´s real. We are going into the winter break with the 1st place in the LMGTE AM class. Three things got us there. The trust and support of Porsche, which we have appreciated for 25 years, our willingness to learn and our 25 years of experience in working with racing cars and their pilots.
