Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army is a console role-playing game published by Atlus for the PlayStation 2 in 2006. The original Japanese name is Devil Summoner Kuzunoha Raidou tai Chourikiheidan (Raidou Kuzunoha vs. Super Power Army). The game is a real-time spinoff of the Megami Tensei ("Megaten") series of games. Unlike other Megaten games, Raidou Kuzunoha is set in the past, specifically the 1930s, and deals with historical figures such as Grigori Rasputin in addition to the Megaten series' traditional use of real-world mythological figures.

Although the game criticised for being the shortest Shin Megami Tensei game, it generally received favourable responses from players and reviewers alike.

Characters

  • Raidou Kuzunoha the XIV: The player character, a high school student turned Devil Summoner of the Kuzunoha family. He can confine demons into Kuda (a pipe), and use them to battle and to do detective work. Just like every other Shin Megami Tensei main character, he rarely speaks.
  • Gouto: A black cat with green eyes. He is Raidou's partner. He sounds a little smug at first but actually very concerned about Raidou and his mission. Apparently he was working with every other Raidou since the second.

Trivia

Template:Spoiler

  • In the game's opening it is stated that the game takes place in the twentieth year of the Taishō era in Japan. (Note: There was no twentieth year of the Taishō era.)
  • Raidou saves the life of a Japanese admiral in one of the later episodes in the game. Although the name of this admiral is never revealed it can be speculated the fact that Yamamoto's life was threatened during that time by the Japanese Army because of his negative views about the Army's policies.
  • As exlained above, the game makes references to the friction between the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy during that time.
  • Rasputin's real motives and how he came to be an android is never explained in the game.
  • Battleship Yamatagerasu has a strong resemblance to Super Dimensional Fortress Macross.
