Cypress Creek High School is located in south Orlando, Florida and serves students in grades 9 through 12. Cypress Creek is an IB World School with an International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. As an IB World School, CCHS is a local magnet school allowing students from other Orange County, Florida school districs to attend. Notable alumni include Phoenix Suns basketball player Amare Stoudemire

The students that attend Meadow Woods Middle School, South Creek Middle School, and Walker Middle School will be the ones that attend this school when they graduate from their respective middle schools.

Cypress Creek's marching band placed first in the state for five consecutive years, 1998-2002. The band also made placed in the Bands of America Grand National semi-finals in 2000 (placing 17th) and 2002 (placing 20th).

Cypress Creek High School has the only student-run radio station in the county. Its format is party dance music. It uses NexGen, the same software used by other Clear Channel Communications and other radio stations accros the country.

It is run by high-school students Grade 10+, and it's taught by the coach John Ashley.

The class also plays the music for the football and sports events that occur in the school.

Due to it being the only student-run radio station in the county, the class has gotten a lot of attention and publicity from the local news and newspapers. In 2006, the radio-station was featured in Central Florida News 13 from Bright House Networks, interveiwing the students about the job.

The radio station has its own block shows that air regularly during the week [1]. Each of the shows is run either automatically or by the students who attend the class.

The radio station can be heard online on their official site. QuickTime is required to stream.

Faculty

The school is very crowded, so a workforce of enough teachers and staff is required to keep order in the school.

Administration

The current principal for the school is Susan Storch. She has been in the OCPS system for over 30 years. She has been principal for the high school for 3 years as of 2006.

The rest of the Administration team include Eddie Foster, Vicki Lutrell, Michael Showalter, and Kenneth Iiames.

The deans of the school include Norma Bynes, Victor Caban, Johnathon Mindermann, and Teressa Haye.

Guidance

The guidance counselors for Cypress Creek High School are Vicki Hammonds, Tina Bulled, Brad Grot, Tim Harkins, Teressa Haye, Caren Hubler, Neva Regina Mitchell, Rosalyn Greer, Linda Shaddix, Stephanie Sherman, and Ashley Olson.

AVID

Avid is a college preporatory program that exists at Cypress Creek High School. Avid is a acronym that stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. The students that have joined the program are finding that with some self motivation and hard work,you can go any college in the country.
