Clifford Glen Rozier (born October 31 1972, in Bradenton, Florida) is an American former professional basketball player.

He was selected by the Golden State Warriors in the 1st round (16th overall) of the 1994 NBA Draft. Rozier played for the Warriors, Toronto Raptors and Minnesota Timberwolves in 4 NBA seasons. His best season as a pro came during his rookie year with the Warriors, when he appeared in 66 games averaging 6.8 ppg. He played collegiatly at the University of North Carolina and the University of Louisville.

In 2000 he played in the United States Basketball League with the Brevard Blue Ducks.

Manatee County Cold Case Murder Series: Ace of Spades, Tara Reilly, Found Shot to Death, March 27, 2000

BRADENTON, Florida [NMT] -- Recently, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office and other local law enforcement agencies, along with Crime Stoppers of Manatee County, pooled their cold case murders and caused the basic information regarding each case to be printed on card decks resembling playing cards. Those playing card decks were then distributed to inmates at the Manatee County Jail, in hopes that one of the prisoners would recognize the dead person and/or have information concerning his or her untimely death and report it to Crime Stoppers of Manatee County for a cash reward.

NewsManatee joins those law enforcement agencies in a series featuring those unsolved murders. We will feature one of those from time-to-time, usually one a week.

Today we feature Tara Reilly, who was 25 years old when she was shot and killed on March 26, 2000.

On that date, Tara went to the Wal-Mart, located at 5315 Cortez Road West, in Bradenton, to meet with an unknown person in the parking lot. On the following day, March 27th, Tara was found dead in the wooded area behind the Wal-Mart, lying in a pool of water. Tara had been shot and killed by unknown persons.

Woman Arrested for Prostitution By Undercover Deputy

BRADENTON, Florida [NMT] -- An undercover deputy, working in the Tactical Unit of the Special Investigations Division of the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, arrested a woman for Prostitution on Tuesday.

The deputy was posing as a "john" when he spotted a possible hooker in the 3200 block of 9th Street West, in Bradenton, at about 9:30 p.m.

He pulled over and she got in.

After driving around while she looked for various friends of hers, he explained to her that he was looking for oral sex. She said she didn't do that, but she had friends who do.

After a while, she said she'd think about giving him oral sex.

They pulled in back of a shopping center at 4300 14th Street West and dickered about the price. She finally agreed to $40 dollars and told the undercover deputy to take off his shorts.

He gave the takedown signal and Janice Martin, 49, listed as homeless, was arrested and charged with Prostitution.


Man Arrested For Sex With Juvenile

BRADENTON, Florida [NMT] -- Manatee County Sheriff's Detectives have arrested Leroy Brydson, 19, of Bradenton, for Lewd and Lascivious Battery, after they say he had sexual intercourse with a juvenile.

According to the arrest report, Brydson admitted to the mother of an unnamed girl that he had sex with the girl "too many times to count."

The girl was a juvenile at the time and the incidents happened in the girl's home.

Through the use of investigative techniques, detectives learned that Brydson was heard to say that he had sexual relations with the girl, that they used protection every time, and that the girl didn't have to worry because he didn't have a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD).

The incidents occurred in November and December of 2006 and Brydson told her mother the sex was consensual.

The girl refused to cooperate with detectives.

The girl's mother filed the original complaint with the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Brydson was arrested on Tuesday.


Holmes Beach Cook, Intoxicated, Gives Cops a Hard Time

BRADENTON BEACH, Florida [NMT] -- James K. Williams, 51, a cook at Shells restaurant on East Bay Drive, in Holmes Beach, was arrested for Battery on another individual on the beach Tuesday. But he couldn't let it go at that.

According to a Bradenton Beach Police report, Williams had fought another man at the Drift In Lounge, on Bridge Street in Bradenton Beach. By the time police arrived, Williams had fled and was in the water, about 30 feet away, trying to bail out his dingy.

Williams refused to come out of the water, spouting a few expletives at the officers, so they went in to get him. In order to subdue Williams, officers had to pepper spray him.

Once on shore, Williams continued to be very belligerent, police said. He had to be laid down on the sand to be handcuffed. He was then put in a patrol vehicle.

At the police station, Williams was secured to a bench and became very unruly, threatening officers with bodily harm and lawsuits.

After telling him numerous times to calm down, Williams got even more unruly and started banging the nearby wall and spitting on the floor. He refused to stop and calm down.

So, they pepper sprayed him again, which helped him calm down.

Williams was arrested on the original Battery charge and additionally charged with Resisting Arrest without Violence and Disorderly Intoxication..


Unmarked Sheriff's Vehicle, 11 Others Vandalized

BRADENTON, Florida [NMT] -- Three unknown persons, said to be juveniles, went into the Sugar Ridge Subdivision and damaged 12 vehicles by smashing out windows with a baseball bat.

One of the vehicles damaged was an unmarked Manatee County Sheriff's Office vehicle.

The suspects' vehicle was a dark blue Chevy Caprice, a report from the sheriff's office said.

The incident happened shortly before midnight on Tuesday.

School Construction Worker Dies After Electrocution

PALMETTO, Florida [NMT] -- A man working on a construction site at Buffalo Creek Middle School died after being electrocuted yesterday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

At approximately 2:30 Wednesday afternoon, deputies responded to an apparent electrocution involving a construction worker at a school in Palmetto.

Pedro Hernandez, 43, of Tampa, was found unconscious in an attic area of Buffalo Creek Middle School, which is a new school being built at 7320 69th Street East.

The victim was transported to Manatee Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The death appears to be accidental, according to Dave Bristow, spokesman for the sheriff's office.


Man Arrested After Body Found in Trash Can

ORLANDO, Florida [NMT] -- Orlando television station WKMG News reported a 27-year-old man in Volusia County was arrested late Tuesday in connection with the discovery of a woman's body found stuffed in a trash can, according to police.

Authorities said the body of Samantha Lewis, 18, was found stuffed in a trash can at the intersection of Big Tree Road and Anastasia Drive near a city sewer station.

After officers searched an apartment in South Daytona, Clayton Williams was arrested Tuesday night, WKMG News said.

Manatee County Ordinance Tested: Woman Was Warned, But She Continued To Panhandle

BRADENTON, Florida [NMT] -- Manatee County's new anti-panhandling ordinance was tested on Monday. A woman who was panhandling was given a copy of the county's new ordinance and was told if she continued, she would be arrested. Some people just can't or won't learn.

According to an arrest report, Bonnie Peters, 33, was observed by a deputy at the intersection of 60th Avenue East and U.S. 301 panhandling. She was in the center median soliciting cars for money.

The deputy stopped and provided Peters with a copy of the county ordinance pertaining to solicitation.

The deputy told Peters if she continued, she would be arrested. He then let Peters leave. That was at 12:05 p.m.

At 12:20, the deputy was en route to a call and saw Peters soliciting for money at an intersection to the west of where she had just been warned. The deputy was unable to stop, due to the call he was on.

At 1 p.m., the deputy returned to the same area and found Peters again in the center median at 60th Avenue East and U.S. 301, panhandling.

The deputy pulled up and arrested her.

Peters told the deputy she was attempting to get bus money to get to her home in Bradenton.

However, upon arrival at detention, Peters' property was inventoried; Peters had $18.00 in her possession.

Peters was charged with Solicitation in violation of the anti-panhandling ordinance.


Man Selling Cocaine: "Is That Illegal?"

BRADENTON, Florida [NMT] -- Early last week, the Bradenton Police Department arrested Clifford Rozier, 34, for Sales of Cocaine.

According to the arrest report, patrol officers observed Rozier and another man in front of a residence in the 1000 block of 5th Street West engage in what appeared to be a hand-to-hand cash transaction.

Rozier left the man and turned onto 10th Avenue Drive West into a known narcotics area. In about 60 seconds, Rozier reappeared and handed something to the other man.

They then walked to the back of the residence, which is a condemned building with no trespassing signs around it.

The officers went to the rear of the building and found the two sitting in an open shed.

The other man had a few pieces of what appeared to be crack cocaine in his hand. He handed them to one of the officers.

Rozier spontaneously made the following statements to the officers: "I just helped him get some cocaine. Is that illegal?"

Rozier was arrested and charged with Sale of Cocaine.
