Take to the Skies is the debut studio album by Enter Shikari. On March 25 2007, after its first week of release, it reached #4 in the Official UK Album Chart. It has been released as a standard CD, a limited CD + DVD edition and a double LP version (2 x 180grm 12" vinyl) with an embossed gate fold sleeve. The 12" vinyl edition is limited to 1000 copies and also contains the standard CD.

The album combines many of the songs that were featured on singles and EPs that were released in the years prior to the album's release, but however they have all been rerecorded for the album. The single "Anything Can Happen in the Next Half Hour..." was the first single to be released from the album using the re-recordings.

The album is set to be released in North America in October, after Ambush Reality posted on the Enter Shikari forums saying that they joint together with Tiny Evil Records to release the album. [1] The band had problems during the time period during the release of TTTS in Europe up until August because the band had not found a distributor yet.

The album was leaked onto the internet on March 4, 2007 in .mp4 format.

The band celebrated the release of their album by devouring an entire hog roast.

Miscellanea

  • There has been some confusion about the unnamed tracks on the album. The original pre-release promo for the album sent out in January 2007 and the official site stated that the first track would be called "Stand Your Ground; This Is Ancient Land", and that the track preceding "Jonny Sniper" would be called "Jonny's Introduction". Other sources state that the final track is titled "Closing" and that the other interludes are named "Interlude 1, 2 and 3" respectively, however all of the interludes including the introduction and final tracks are untitled on the actual CD track list.
  • The unnamed tracks on the iTunes release were combined with the songs that precede them, apart from the third and final unnamed tracks which are titled Reprise 1 and 2 respectively. It is thought this was done as these tracks were shorter than the others and so people may have been put off buying them.
  • The phrase "Take to the Skies" is not mentioned in any of the songs on the album, but it is mentioned in the song "Kickin' Back on the Surface of Your Cheek", which was featured as a b-side on the "Anything Can Happen in the Next Half Hour..." single.
  • In the lyrics booklet that accompanies the album there are three known slight errors. Firstly, it states that one of the lyrics of the song "Enter Shikari" is "'not all is lost' the spirits shriek", this is actually the lyric to the demo version of the song, the lyric on the album version of the song is "'not all is lost' the spirits cry". Secondly there are two spelling mistakes in the lyrics to "Return to Energiser". The booklet states "We still have the element of surpirse [sic]", instead of the correct spelling "surprise", and "Defence Sheilds [sic] Down" with "shields" spelt wrongly. Lastly there is a small difference in the song Labyrinth with the lyrics being "especially with my girl screaming in his ear" instead of the written "especially with his girl screaming in his ear".
