A Flash Flood of Color is the third studio album by the English post-hardcore band Enter Shikari. The album, produced by Dan Weller, was recorded in May and June 2011 at Karma Sound Studios in Chonburi ( Thailand ). The album was released worldwide on January 16, 2012 by Ambush Reality - the band's own record label - as well as by Hopeless Records in North America . The album is the follow-up to the second studio album Common Dreads .

The album is mainly concerned with current topics. In addition to the Great Recession, shortcomings in current political decisions are also addressed. The political situation in Israel is just as problematized as climate change. The band allows influences from electronic music and rock to merge in the album . The album cover is an inverted representation of the social hierarchy.

The album rose to number four in the British and 23rd position in the German album charts .

Background, content and texts

While Enter Shikari's 2009 album Common Dreads was more about topics such as the financial crisis, the economic crisis and the widespread discontent, the lyrical direction of A Flash Flood of Color was different. Singer Rou Reynolds believes that music is a great way to pass political ideas on to everyone, religious or not.

The attitude in A Flash Flood of Color can be described as politically progressive. The band deals with current topics and environmental issues. The aim is to recall "the weaknesses of capitalism, the hypocrisy of modern politics and the blatant disregard for human health and happiness". But despite the strong political incentives hidden in the album, singer Reynolds emphasizes that the album is actually not politically motivating. Furthermore, the band is of the opinion that politics is an outdated system and that it is now time to shape life according to scientific knowledge and developments. But try not to think subjectively - no matter how the leitmotif of the album might express it.

The recording was produced by former SikTh guitarist Dan Weller, who helped produce the previous album, Common Dreads . The band recorded the album over a period of two months, in May and June 2011, at Karma Sound Studio in Thailand . The recording of the album began in a London recording studio, where the first ideas had already been implemented. A little later, Weller informed the band that he knew a friend who owned a recording studio in Thailand. Enthusiastic about this proposal, the band members left England to record the album in Thailand. All the band members described the studio as "fantastic studio paradise". Finally, the album was mixed and produced by Mike Fraser in Vancouver .

The band released two singles in advance, which are not included on A Flash Flood Of Color : Destabilize and Quelle Surprise . Quelle Surprise was actually supposed to be the first single on the album - but later it was decided to leave the single as independent and album-independent as Destabilize . However, on some versions of the album, these two tracks are included as a bonus.

The album was officially released on January 16, 2012 through Ambush Reality and Hopeless Records .
