Wet 'n' Wild Water World (formerly named "Cade's County Water World" until its name change circa 1987) is a large water theme park attraction situated in Oxenford, Gold Coast next to Warner Bros. Movie World and in close proximity to Dreamworld and WhiteWater World. It is Queensland's and Australia's largest waterpark. It has just finished a recent expansion with the new "Extreme H2O Zone", an area designed specifically for thrill seekers. The children's area (Buccaneer Bay) has also undergone redevelopment. While the park remains open all year, all pools and slides are heated during winter.

Rides and attractions

  • Whitewater Mountain - 4 body flume slides opened with the park in 1984, further refurbished in the 1990s when the artificial mountain was added. Featuring the following rides:
  • Cascade
  • Bombora
  • Ripcurl
  • Pipeline

Whitewater Mountain is currently closed for refurbishment and is expected to reopen in September 2007. Currently new slides are in the process of construction and look very similar to the old slide pieces. 2 of the slides are enclosed now and 2 are still open slides. This attraction will remain a body slide.

  • The Twister - 2 body tube slides crossing each other in 360 degree spirals.
  • Speed Coaster - Originally named 'Speed Slide' when the park first opened, the attraction has since been refurbished and modified.
  • Super 8 Aqua Racer - An 8 lane timed mat racer slide.
  • Terror Canyon - A 2 person enclosed tube slide with fibre optic lighting effects.
  • Terror Canyon II - Converted from the 'River Rapids' slide to Terror Canyon II a few years after the slide opened.
  • Calypso Beach - A large lazy relaxation river attraction.
  • The Whirlpool - Dual summer/winter attraction. During the summer it is a gentle one person per tube ride and during winter it has the upper level of water drained and covers removed to expose 10 x 20 person hot spas heated at 36 degrees Celsius. In the winter it is called "Whirlpool Hot Springs".
  • Mammoth Falls - 2 Multi rider raft style slides. The Mammoth Plunge slide was recently donated to Sea World and replaced with a replica of the Mammoth River slide.
  • Mach 5 - Part of 'Extreme H20 Zone', acquired 2nd hand from a defunct waterpark in Brazil. Featuring the following rides:
  • The Sidewinders - 3 person open flume slides.
  • The Jetstreams - 3 high speed body slides.
  • Blackhole - Part of 'Extreme H20 Zone', acquired 2nd hand from a defunct waterpark in Brazil. Enclosed tube slides featuring twists and turns in complete darkness.
  • Tornado - Part of 'Extreme H20 Zone'. A 4 person clover-leaf funnel slide built by US manufacturer 'ProSlide'.
  • Giant Wave Pool - Original 1984 wavepool attraction featuring 'Dive-in Movies' every Saturday night in November through to Late April and every night in January.
  • Buccaneer Bay - Children's activity area offering small slides and various waterplay features.

A new half pipe roller coaster that is named Surf Rider is expected to open at the park in September and it will be the first non-water based ride at the park but will contain water elements within the ride. It will be situated next to the Whirlpool attraction.

A Second Wet'n'Wild

In 2004, Warner Village Theme Parks proposed to draft plans to be finalized in 2005, for a second Wet'n'Wild theme park to be built on the Sunshine Coast completed by 2007. Although these plans have fallen through, they are reported to be in discussions with the designers of Adventura Water Park Resort to cojointly build and fund this new Water based theme park at Caloundra.

Food

There are several food outlets placed throughout the park. Each one specialising in different styles of fast food.

  • Bombora Burger Bar
  • Kahuna's Fish and Chips
  • Snack Shack
  • Oasis Ice Cream Parlour

Along with the outlets, there are several roaming and stationary mobile carts. These sell hot dogs, Churros, fairy floss and drinks.
