  • Dhaka / Bangladesh : Iajuddin Ahmed , President of Bangladesh, will remain President of the South Asian country after his term of office has expired.
  • Oberschledorn / Germany : A police action is likely to prevent serious attacks. The terror suspects were arrested. On the basis of the accumulated manufacturing materials, an attack could have been carried out with a greater explosive force than the terrorist attacks in Madrid and London. The attack plans were directed against US facilities.

In the Bundestag, votes can only be taken on the entire Bundeswehr mission (including a tornado mission). At a special party conference, the Greens decided to vote against the deployment in this case.
  • Frankfurt am Main / Germany : The external value of the currency Euro first listed above 1.40 dollars .
  • Kiel / Germany : The Schleswig-Holstein Secretary of State for Energy, Jost de Jage, declares that the State of Schleswig-Holstein wants to cover all of its electricity consumption with wind energy by 2020 .

  • Dresden / Germany : In Saxony , the government of Prime Minister Georg Milbradt is being reshaped.
  • Kinshasa / DR Congo : The Chinese government and the Congo agree to build a road through the rainforest from the capital to the border with Zambia . China bears the cost of road construction and receives mining rights for this, especially for copper and cobalt .
  • Rangoon / Myanmar : The government deployed soldiers in the demonstrations in Myanmar, the government of Myanmar has issued a ban on assembly.
  • The EU decides that rail travelers get money back if the train is late: 25% of the price for one hour, 50% of the price for 2 hours. In Germany, the law is to apply from 2008.
