San Sebastián de Garabandal is a small mountain village in northern Spain in the Cantabrian Mountains .
There, from 1961 to 1965, four girls are said to have appeared on June 18, 1961, first an angel and, as announced by him, on July 2, 1961, at the place he designated, Our Lady appeared as Mary of Mount Carmel , according to the girls was called by the angel. In the period that followed, many ecstasies and spectacular incidents are said to have occurred there, such as the lifting of gravity (the girls hovered above the ground) and even a previously announced miracle of the host that was captured photographically.
The Catholic Church has stated with regard to the phenomena that it is not proven that it has acted with supernatural events. For a long time there was a ban on foreign priests and religious from exercising their functions there. However, this ban was relaxed by the Apostolic Administrator of the responsible diocese of Santander Carlos Osoro Sierra .
