Loafing and Camouflage: Sirens in the Aegean is the 2005 second film bearing the "Loafing & Camo" stamp, after the classic 1984 film Loafing and Camouflage by Nikos Perakis. The film stars an ensemble cast of Greek and Turkish actors.

Plot

This army satire follows a small group of Greek soldiers in the island of Kos, when they are assigned to spend a few days guarding a (fictional) small rock island named Pitta to defend an alleged invasion from Turkish troops. After their arrival in Pitta, everything looked normal until a Turkish boat (sent there for a modeling photo shooting) disembarked 4 castaways on Pitta. Amongst the models was the niece of a Turkish Admiral, which made things more complicated when the Turkish authorities started looking for them. The protagonists did not know what to do since a diplomatic episode could be inevitable. The outcome is the involvement of both countries in the incident resulting in several comic situations.

According to Imdb.com, a third L&C movie, titled Loafing and Camouflage: I4, is going to be released during 2008.

Trivia

  • The movie became also famous in that was the place where Greek actor George Seitaridis and Turkish model Tugçe Kazaz met. Kazaz became Christian Orthodox in order to marry Seitaridis.
  • Shortly after the premiere, the movie created a censoring controversy, showing in a scene the soldiers smoking weed; the scene was eventually not removed.
