Nikos Perakis
Nikos Perakis ( Greek Νίκος Περάκης ; born September 11, 1944 in Alexandria ) is a Greek stage designer , set designer , film director and screenwriter .
The son of a Greek businessman grew up in Athens and graduated from the Dörpfeld-Gymnasium of the German School Athens there . 1962 to 1965 he studied at the Academy of Arts in Munich. At the same time he worked as a set designer at various Munich theaters and from 1964 was assistant production designer at Bayerischer Rundfunk and Bavaria Film .
After his military service in Greece, he returned to the Federal Republic in 1969. He worked again as a set designer and in this way came to film. He designed the decorations for films by Volker Schlöndorff , Reinhard Hauff and others. In 1971 he was a co-founder of the ULM film workshop (Independent Light Game Manufactory).
From 1972 Perakis himself was responsible as a director and screenwriter. The crook comedy Bomber & Paganini (1976) with Mario Adorf and Tilo Prückner made him particularly well known. He has been working mainly in Greece since the early 1980s and has made a name for himself as a specialist in socially critical comedies. His films combine a sure instinct for entertainment for the masses with biting satire and a subtle look at Greek realities.
