Two-step garage (2-step, 2step, 2 step) is a genre of music, associated with UKG scene.

Characteristics

Two-step rhythm structure is influenced by hardstep.[1] Two-step rhythm essentially lacks the 2nd and the 4th kick drum.[2][3] Drum pattern can be irregular.[4] Two-step usually ranges 125-135 bpm.[5]

Two-step bass is influenced by soul and funk.[6][7]

Two-step almost essentially features house-style vocals[8] or vocals in the style of cont. R&B.[9][10][11] It is usual for two-step to modify source a-capellas.[12] MC's are often featured on two-step tracks.[13]

Overall two-step atmosphere is soft, lyrical, melodic and erotic.[14][15]
