Fanny Rowe was an English actress born in Preston, Lancashire on 26 June, 1913 and died 31 August, 1988.

Her real name was Frances Morton. She was educated at Channing School in Highgate and then went on to study at Newnham College in Cambridge.

Rowe's career started in the Marlowe Society, Cambridge. She then went on to rep at Newcastle, Coventry, Harrogate, Worthing, Dundee and Windsor.

She has appeared in many theatrical productions both in London's West End and also in the USA. In 1950 she was awarded the Clarence Derwent Award.

Her televison work included Love Story, Rogues' Gallery, Vanity Fair, Mill on the Floss and the long running series Forstye Saga. Probably her most famous role was that of Nancy, the mother of Hester played by Julia Mackensie in the British Sitcom Fresh Fields

Her father was a parson. She married actor Clive Morton
