Das Leben der Anderen (called The Life Of The Others in English) is a German movie and the debut of director and screenwriter Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck. The drama is about the cultural scene of East Berlin, riddled by secret agents of the Stasi. It won four prizes in the Bayerischer Filmpreis (Bavarian Film Awards) in 2005, the highest number ever reached by any film.

The film was released in Germany on March 23 2006. At the same time the screenplay was published by Suhrkamp Verlag.

The film has been nominated for the Deutscher Filmpreis (German film award) 2006 in 11 categories, including best film, best director, best screenplay, best male actor, and best male supporting role. The film stars Ulrich Mühe as stasi agent Gerd Wiesler, Ulrich Tukur as his chief officer Anton Grubitz, Sebastian Koch as the writer Georg Dreymann, and Martina Gedeck as his lover Christa-Maria Sieland.
