Bernstein is a Jewish[1] surname meaning "amber". The German pronunciation is [ˈbɛʁnʃtaɪn] , but in English it is often /ˈbɜːrnstn/. Germanic variants: Börnsteen, Brennstein, lit. "burn[ing]stone"; lat. electrum or glaesum, gr. ἤλεκτρον ēlektron.[2] It may refer to:
