Das Leben der Anderen (translated as The Lives of Others in English) is a German movie. It marks the feature film debut of director/screenwriter Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck. The drama is about the cultural scene of East Berlin, riddled by secret agents of the Stasi. It won four prizes in the Bayerischer Filmpreis (Bavarian Film Awards) in 2005, the highest number ever reached by any film.

The film was released in Germany on March 23 2006. At the same time the screenplay was published by Suhrkamp Verlag.

The film won a record seven Deutscher Filmpreis awards in the 11 categories in which it had been nominated, including best film, best director, best screenplay, best actor and best supporting actor. The film stars Ulrich Mühe as Stasi agent Gerd Wiesler, Ulrich Tukur as his chief officer Anton Grubitz, Sebastian Koch as the playwright Georg Dreymann, and Martina Gedeck as his lover Christa-Maria Sieland.
