Armin Wiebe is a Canadian novelist of Mennonite decent born in Altona, Manitoba. He holds degress from the University of Manitoba and the University of Winnipeg and currently teaches creative writing at Red River College in Winnipeg. He has written numerous humorous novels about Mennonites including "The Salvation of Yasch Siemens." In 1984 he was shortlisted for the prestigious Stephen Leacock Award for Humour. He recently published "Tatsea" a novel that won The McNally Robinson Book of the Year Award and The Margaret Laurence Award for Fiction. He has also written plays and short stories.
