Novels list rerun

Any chance - I was holding up the months newsletter so I could anounce the re-run. Is it possible for more than just yourself to set this in motion.? :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 10:57, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for doing that. I'll try and update the newsletter with the details and get it out sometime very soon. I was amazed to see that the number of articles included has gone up not down. Does this mean the inclusion criteria has become more inclusive or does it genuinely mean there are more such articles? :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 07:54, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay - that's what I was fearing - more work for us to do then. We must do better is the school report! :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 13:19, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Happy for you to make your own best judgement on the other lists (to run or not to run) - personally I will be focusing on this one to try and get the list trimmed considerably - however others may appreciate more up to date lists on the other ones. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 13:48, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion review for Roy Martina

I have requested a deletion review of Roy Martina. Since you speedy-deleted this article, I would appreciate your reasons on how or why you did so in the review. Thanks in advance, Aecis I'm too busy acting like I'm not naive 22:04, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I went ahead and undeleted and put it through an AfD so others can see the content. It can be found here. I am going to stay nuetral as it is my speedy deletion, and I don't want to influance anything. —— Eagle (ask me for help) 22:14, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot :) Aecis I'm too busy acting like I'm not naive. 22:21, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

J&P

I would like to raise with you the issue of you recent deletion of my article on [J&P]. I summarize my argument below:

J&P is a household name in the Middle East having build most of the infrastructure in several countries, information which I started outlining in my article. For a country the size of Cyprus, it has had an impact similar, if not greater, to what Nokia has had for Finland. Or Royal Dutch Shell for Holland. To put this in perspective for you, the figure of 14,000 employees translates to roughly 5% of the total employed population. It has a turnover of more than £1 billion. That’s greater than 10% of the GDP of Cyprus. If companies such as Crest Nicholson, McCarthy & Stone and Crosby Homes some of which are miniscule in comparison (definitely in real terms, more so in relative terms) are listed in Wikipedia I don’t see why larger companies that have had a more significant global impact (albeit in other regions of the world) should not be featured. One could interpret this as a double standards policy favoring companies such as those I site above, on the grounds that they based in more influential countries.

Please note this was not an attempt to advertise J&P as I have no affiliations to this company whatsoever and if fact I morally agree that wikipedia should not be used as a platform for company advertising. The information I included was very similar to what's posted on the construction companies I site above. In fact I went a step further and used the infobox template to present this.

Furthermore one could take offence to your description of the article as spam. As you might notice from my other articles so far, I put quite a lot of effort to source independent references (one of which I included in the article) on the figures stated and the company’s international ranking.

Would you like me to move this article to your userspace. I deleted as spam, but it could have also been deleted under CSD G4. G4 is used when an article that was deleted is reposted agian. You have created this article twice on the same day. I would trust you to know when to move out of your userspace, (as in when it is a more fully developed article that won't get tagged). Would you like me to undelte and move to your userspace? —— Eagle (ask me for help) 23:16, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply. I am not sure what userpsace is, if you think it is appropriate go ahead and move it. I had re-posted this article as I was under the impression that my work was never saved (I was working on it in “preview mode” and thought I had not saved it prior to logging off last night). In fact I was kicking myself as I had to do all the typing again. I had made this mistake before.
What I’d prefer however, is your justification for deleting the article. Please take a quick look at the articles on Crest Nicholson and McCarthy & Stone. To me they seem no different as to the content. Is it the fact that I presented the same info within an infobox template rather than as a narrative? Or is it that they are British?
StephP 00:51, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Nah, I am probably in the wrong, I was working on WP:CSD and have deleted over 200 articles today. I probably made a mistake between the delete becuase repost, and the delete becuase spam. This is my error, I will undelete the page for you. I will also put a little work into it to improve it a bit. Cheers!—— Eagle (ask me for help) 02:19, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I would be grateful if you also had a look here (User_talk:Leuko#J.26P) as we are discussing the same subject. It saves me duplicating answers. Regards, StephP 01:05, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Eagle 101.

I helped a user set up the article United one heart foundation which you deleted under CSD A7. I don't remember that article too well, but at the time I thought it was borderline notable, enough to keep it in anyway. Would you mind undeleting it and moving it to my user-space? Don't worry, I won't recreate it (unless I find good reason for it, and then I'd immediatly take it to AFD and notify you, since you obviously disagreed), but I want to give the user his peace of mind. He's a newbie and I don't want to turn him away from wikipedia, I'd just like to see the article so that I can rationalize it for the guy and keep him from recreating it.

Who knows, maybe I can work on it enough to make it a Keep? However, as I said, I have no intention of overruling you.

Thanks! Oskar 22:56, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Done, look at User:Oskar Sigvardsson/United one heart foundation. Feel free to re-create if it passes criteria. and Cheers!!! —— Eagle (ask me for help) 23:10, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The novels .hack//AI buster and ’Salem's Lot both have the Name? listed as missing, but checking the article pages they have the Name filled out already. I think the the punctuation before the first letter is giving a false reading. Grey Shadow 23:52, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting, I will have to fix that, thanks for reporting here on my talk page. —— Eagle (ask me for help) 23:53, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you apparently merged the first section of the Mikaruge from some other article. Now we have footnote numbers that don't refer to anything. Can you please fix that? User:Zoe|(talk) 04:20, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Zoe, I merged frome the redirect, as the redirect had edits on it that should have been at this article. 00:37, October 7, 2006 Eagle 101 (Talk | contribs | block) m (moved Mirakuge to Mikaruge: hist merge). I am at a loss as to where these footnotes actually existed. I am searching the contribution history, but I don't see at all where they were ever active. Do you have an idea as to when these were active, I am glad to fix if I can find the edit to where these came from. (unless the history merge screws up Cite.php, and I don't know... —— Eagle (ask me for help) 12:48, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Palm Zire 31.jpg

I honestly don't understand why my uploaded image: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&type=delete&page=Image:Palm_Zire_31.jpg was deleted. I thought I put it as the owner of the image gave me permission for wikipedia projects, which he/she did do. I can semt you a copy of the e-mail if you want. Joh777nny 15:08, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Did you click through to this link, that I provided in my deletion summery? If there is something in that section that you don't understand, please let me know. If the copyright holder is willing to release into the public domain, or the like, then please do upload under the correct image lisence tags. —— Eagle (ask me for help) 12:50, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I still don't understand. I think that the copyright owner gave me permission to use it on the public domain, (heres a link to the e-mail http://lan.serverxeon.com/files/e-mail.txt ), but I don't really know which image license to use. Joh777nny 20:50, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
We can't have images for Wikipedia use only, but we can have images released under GFDL, PD or CC. Basically any license listed as free at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags will do. Make sure that the owner of the image acknowledges that. Since Wikpedia is GFDL'ed licensed and that others can mirror it our images have to be available for everyone's use and not just Wikipedia only. Hope that explains the problem. —— Eagle (ask me for help) 21:04, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please tell me when this article was deleted and why you removed the red link from List of Israeli companies? Thanks. --Shuki 21:11, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

the deletion summery at the deletion log says the following : 14:44, October 8, 2006 Eagle 101 (Talk | contribs | block) deleted "Wissotzky Tea" (CSD G11- Spam is not allowed on wikipedia... please contribute in a more productive way thank you. - content was: '{{db-spam}}Wissotzky Tea is a private Israeli company which manufactures and distributes tea. Founded in [[Mosc).
If you can re-create as a encyclopediatic article, please do so. I hope that helps. Also please read CSD A7, which may be relevent. Also check to make sure that this article meets WP:CORP or it may be liable to a AFD—— Eagle (ask me for help) 21:25, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I am willing to undelete, if you feel I may have deleted in error. I was doing CSD at the time. —— Eagle (ask me for help) 21:27, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I was the creator of this article and I did not think it was spam (I have no relationship to this company other than a consumer of their products). I would have hoped this would have gone the AfD route instead. Can it be un-deleted and put up for article for deletion instead. --YUL89YYZ 11:23, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just recreate the article, (if you can write it in such a way that nobody will speedy tag it). it is not a big deal. If you really want the AfD, I can do that, but much simpler just to re-make (provided that the article really is not spam). —— Eagle (ask me for help) 12:53, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I'll get it from the cache. I really don't see how this "Wissotzky Tea is a private Israeli company which manufactures and distributes tea. Founded in Moscow in 1849 by Klonimus Wolf Wissotzky, the company employs 300 people, and moved to Israel following World War II." is spam. Google comes back with "21,100" articles with "Wissotzky Tea. Any idea to make it different before I add it back? --YUL89YYZ 13:38, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I would make sure to follow WP:CITE and WP:RS. If it is cited and sourced, and shows a WP:NPOV view of the company, it should be fine. Read over WP:SPAM, and make sure to be very careful with adding external links, try to make them sources instead. Agian, I can't stop someone else from speeding this. —— Eagle (ask me for help) 22:45, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Make sure it meets WP:CORP as well. Thanks! —— Eagle (ask me for help) 22:46, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Discipline this idiot

Jigsaw Jimmy left a message on my talk page for the sole reason to try and insult me. Another user replied to his immaturity and insulted him/her, as well. This is a clear violation of Wikipedia:No personal attacks. The offending user also deleted a series of messages he and I shared some weeks ago for no apparent reason. The conservation can be viewed here and his delation of a previous conversation can be viewed here. Throw 02:00, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Eagle 101, for guiding me through easy-but-confusing (whirly) VP2 steps. Now lets kill the vandals!! Cheers -- Imoeng 12:59, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
