Freman College is a mixed upper school in Buntingford, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom for 13-18 year olds[1][2]. Of the 788 students at the school in 2006, 198 were enrolled in the Sixth form[3].
The college is a Specialist Humanities College and the coordinator of a School Sports Partnership[4].
History
The school began as Ward Freman Upper School, opening in 1970, named for the bishop Seth Ward and Elizabeth Freman. The name of the school was changed to Freman College in 1999[5].
House system
Students at Freman College belong to one of four houses for the duration of their studies, each named after a famous British sculptor: Butler, Hepworth, Mills and Moore. There are regular inter-house competitions in sports and the arts, with the overall winners each year being awarded the Sainsbury Trophy.[6]
