A full explanation of all the problems would be longer than the paragraph. It doesn't make sense to say that a whole virus particle "must be metastable". Uncoating doesn't refer to what this paragraph is talking about. Also bacteriophages don't need to undergo this process. Also, I don't think it makes sense to talk about something as large as a virus to be risking a "minimum energy state". undo

I clarified that this is due to the equilibrium state that is reached in the capsid's system. I added a source that explains how free energy relates to whether a reaction can use work to be reversed. undo
