Revision as of 10:02, 30 April 2005

This page is currently undergoing some major changes to improve its usefulness, please see this talk page entry for more information. Greg Robson 09:14, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)

How to help

  1. Pick a constituency from the Wikinews article Results of 2005 United Kingdom General Election, as this page is not verified and some entries may be incorrect.
  2. Use a pre-existing page, such as this that has the key details (stub message, category, election result templates) and alter the details so they match the correct details for the new page.
  3. Call the new page "constituency name (UK Parliament constituency)" – be sure to use the suffix (UK Parliament constituency) (as there are a lot of conflicts with Scottish parliament constituency names, Canadian constituency names, town names, borough names, and even football team names.
  4. Fill in the results for the 2001 general election. These have been prepared in the following pages. Just locate the correct results table and cut'n'paste it.
  5. Ensuring that it meets the criteria for being "election ready", put (ER) after its title.

Complete page criteria

If the page meets the following criteria it can be considered "election ready", that does not necessarily mean the page is complete however. Ensure the page

  • contains the sections: Boundaries, Member of Parliament, Election results, and Politics and history of the constituency.
  • has {{UK-poli-stub}} if it is new or has parts missing
  • is listed under Category:UK Parliamentary constituencies
  • has the 2005 election candidates (see resources for information source), using [[UK general election, 2005|General Election 2005]]: constituency name as its title. Use N/A for any cells that should not contain a value (i.e. %age change for new candidates)
  • has the 2001 election results (see resources for information source), using [[UK general election, 2001|General Election 2001]]: constituency name as its title. Use N/A for any cells that should not contain a value (i.e. %age change for new candidates).

How to use these tables...

Each entry should read as follows:

  • Name: The common name of the constituency, as report by the majority of sources.
  • Quality: One of three values:
    • SStub-like if either of Boundaries or Member of parliament have a stub message
    • LLimited, No stub message apart from the "British Politics" stub at the bottom.
    • EExetensive, has no stub messages and decent amount of content.
  • Redirects – Mark as Done when all double redirects have been checked using "What links here", you may wish to ensure that all politicians that link to the page are linked in candidate listings and member of parliament lists.
  • Disambiguation – Has it been checked for all cross-ambiguation messages? Use Wikiwax to find articles with the same name. Mark as Done when correct.
  • 2005 GE – Mark as Ready when the 2005 candidates and 2001 results are listed correctly. Mark as Done when the 2005 results have been entered.

If a cell is empty is to be taken that the particular check has not taken place.
