Resident Evil: Degeneration, known in Japan as Biohazard: Degeneration (バイオハザード ディジェネレーション, Baiohazādo Dijenerēshon), is the first full-length CG animation feature based upon the Resident Evil series of games. It was announced by Capcom and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan on October 29, 2007. It is currently in production, with plans for a release in 2008.

While the film will feature a "brand new storyline",[1] promotional footage states that the film will be set "7 years from Raccoon City". The teaser included with the Resident Evil: Extinction DVD and Blu-ray Disc confirmed the appearance of Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield.[2] It will be in Japanese theaters this fall and coming to DVD and Blu-ray in North America later in 2008.

Plot

The story is set in autumn of 2005. Bioterrorists manage to release the T-Virus in a busy US airport. The release of the zombies leads to danger of an outbreak.[3]

A recent trailer previewed at the Comic-Con 08 revealed more of the plot. The bio-terrorist action forced the local law enforcement to lock down the airport, giving Leon and the others four hours to disarm the situation or the T-Virus will be dispersed to every populated area in the US.[4] The trailer also suggests an encounter with a creature showing signs of G-Virus mutations, similar to those of William Birkin from Resident Evil 2.[5]

Cast

IGN has reported that Paul Mercier and Alyson Court will reprise their roles as Leon and Claire, respectively.[6]
