Malenko was born into a wrestling family, and his father [[Boris Malenko]] was a prominent wrestling figure in his own right. The characters and concept for the show were created by children's book author/illustrator, Don Carter.

Happy Monster Band is an American Television Show aired on Playhouse Disney. The show centers on a group of preschool-age monsters that perform songs about friendship, love, exercising, chores, and other preschool related themes.

Characters

Major Characters

There are four monsters that make up the Happy Monster Band; Ink, Bluz, L.O., and Frred. All of the monsters' names echo their colors: Ink's trademark color is pink, Bluz's is blue, L.O.'s is yellow, and Frred's is red.

Ink is the band's drummer. She has three eyes. She is pink. Unlike the other band members, Ink only sings in choruses.

Bluz acts as the band's keyboardist, and has four legs. He often contradicts L.O.'s opinions, stating that monsters should scare and not care about art. He is blue.

Frred is the band's vocal output, and plays electric guitar. He is red.

L.O. is the other lead singer, and plays bass guitar. L.O. is the only monster in the band that goes against traditional thinking, preferring to paint and draw instead of scaring. He is yellow.

Minor Characters

Roc and Raoul are two conjoined monsters that are the shows hosts. They speak in rhyme to introduce the show and the judges, but they don't speak in rhyme while backstage.

La, Dee, and Da are the show's judges, who parody Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, and Simon Cowell respectively from American Idol.

  2. Do The Monster Stomp - The band tried so hard to try out their dance moves until Bluz found what was missing, the stomp
  3. Monster Hoe Down - The band members dress up as cowboys and cowgirl and are ready to hoe down
  4. Dirty, Smelly Monster Chores - L.O. arrives late because he had so much chores to do
  5. Scare Up Some Fun - Roc and Raoul sees the room empty and no band, but...BOO! They were actually trying to scare them
  6. I'm The Best At Being Me - L.O. would rather not be so scary as Bluz preferred
  7. Do Re Me-Me-Me - Ink tries to do the rhyming with little success and doesn't want any help
  8. Even Monsters Cry Sometimes - Frred is sad because his dad has a flat tire and he might not make it to the concert
  9. Get Up And Go Go Go - The band had a conversation about getting ready for their day
  10. Practice Makes Progress - Ink is practicing jump rope for the jump rope contest

Season 2

The second season starts on Saturday October 11, 2008 when the band travels around the world.

Trivia

The actual music and vocals are done by Tally Hall, an American rock band.

The characters and concept for the show were created by children's book author/illustrator, Don Carter.

When "Da", the last judge, parodying Simon Cowell, gives his judgement, he starts out negative, but ends up with the line: "It's fantastic!

"Happy Monster Band," a new original animated short-form series about four lovable little monsters and their dreams of pop music stardom, will premiere Monday, October 1 (approximately 8:25 a.m. ET/PT) during Disney Channel's Playhouse Disney programming block for preschoolers. The Happy Monster Band will perform their greatest hits weekdays throughout the month of October, during which time preschoolers and their caregivers will be encouraged to go to PlayhouseDisney.com to vote for their favorite songs. The top 5 songs will then be featured in a special on-air countdown on Halloween day.

Following in a long line of legendary television musical performances, The Happy Monster Band is poised to rock the preschool set by introducing young viewers around the country to their own magical, musical world of rhythm, rhyme and artistic expression. There's no telling what heights they'll reach as they perform their monster-style music for the judges and Playhouse Disney viewers at home.

Each of the 10 music-filled vignettes (4 minutes each) will showcase a different song from the band, including "I'm the Best at Being Me," "Do the Monster Stomp," and "Even Monsters Cry Sometimes." Starting October 12, preschoolers and their caregivers will be able to go online at www.playhousedisney.com/happymonsterband to vote for their favorite songs. The highest rated songs will be revealed on-air in a special Halloween Happy Monster Band Top Five Countdown.

The "Happy Monster Band" characters were created by Don Carter. Loris Kramer Lunsford ("Johnny Test") and Jason Netter ("Wolverine & the X-Men") are Executive Producers. "Happy Monster Band" is a Kickstart production in association with Disney Channel.

Playhouse Disney, seen in a daily programming block on Disney Channel U.S. and on 8 Playhouse Disney channels around the world, encourages preschoolers to imagine and learn through original series, short-form and acquired programming that includes song, movement and entertainment.
