Ádám Szentpétery

Ádám Szentpétery (* 24. February 1956 ) is an in Slovakia living Slovak- Hungarian artist and head of studio for contemporary images from the Faculty of Arts of the Technical University of Kosice in Slovakia. He is best known for his abstract painting with strongly geometrically organized canvases.

life and career

Ádám Szentpétery was born in Rožňava , Czechoslovakia . From 1971 to 1975 he studied at the arts and crafts school in Košice (department of graphics). From 1976 to 1982 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava in the studio for monumental painting.

Since 1999 he has been director of the contemporary photography studio at the Philosophical Faculty of the Technical University in Košice (since 2004 associate professor). In 2007 Szentpétery was awarded the “Munkácsy Mihály díj” (State Prize) in Budapest (Hungary). Today he lives and works in Rožňava and Košice.

Since 1984 Szentpétery has shown his works in numerous solo and group exhibitions around the world, mainly in the countries of the European Union, but also in Japan, Korea and Taiwan.
