The Technical University of Košice , in Slovak Technická univerzita v Košiciach , is a public technical university in the Slovak city of Košice .
history
A Universitas Cassoviensis was founded in Košice as early as 1657 . In 1937 the first technical college was founded in Košice, which, however, was unable to commence teaching due to the prewar events, but was relocated first to Prešov , then to Martin and finally to Bratislava , where it later formed the core of the Bratislava University of Technology .
In July 1952 the first three faculties for mechanical engineering, mining and metallurgy were founded at the Košice site by government resolution No. 30/1952. In 2005, the Milan Rastislav Štefánik Air Force Academy was incorporated into the university as the Faculty of Aviation.
