The Prešov University in Prešov , Slovak Prešovská univerzita v Prešove ( PU for short ), is a public law university in the Slovak city of Prešov .
The university was established in 1996 when the former Prešov part of Pavol-Jozef-Šafárik University with its seat in Košice was dissolved . Hence the unusual name.
The university is known u. a. because of their German institute, which is one of the most traditional in Slovakia. The nationwide Prešov short story competition is held here every year .
