Ángel Romero Llamas

Ángel Romero Llamas , often referred to as Don ; (Born October 1, 1932 in Teúl de González Ortega , Mexico; † September 21, 2007 in Guadalajara , Mexico) was a Mexican cyclist .

At the age of 16 -1948- Llamas became the Mexican road champion. From 1951 to 1954 he won four times in a row at the Vuelta Ciclista al Centro de la República in Mexico . In 1952 he represented Mexico at the Olympic Games in Helsinki and was 45th in the road race . In 1953 he was named Mexican Sportsman of the Year .

After his active career, Llamas became head of the Jalisco cycling team and president of the Mexican Cycling Federation. He was involved in chain restaurants and sporting goods stores in several cities, including the city of Guadalajara . He was elected twice as mayor of Zapopan , (1962–1964 and 1974–1976).

In 1995, Ángel Romero Llamas was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame of the Mexican Sports Federation. He died of cancer on September 13, 2007.
