Älvkarleby is a place ( Tatort ) in the Swedish province of Uppsala län and the historic province of Uppland . It is located in the municipality of the same name .

The Dalälven flows through Älvkarleby on the way to the Baltic Sea .

Stig Dagerman , a Swedish writer from the 1940s, was born here and was later buried here. Every year, the Stig Dagermansällskap awards ceremony takes place not far from the house where he was born, Norrgärdet . Then Älvkarleby becomes a meeting point for well-known writers from Sweden and other European countries.
