Aqui fountain on the Hürlimann area

Aqui was the name of a Zurich mineral water from the Hürlimann brewery .

The name "Aqui" was invented by Beat Schlatter , for which he received three gold coins . The logo of this mineral water was a petrified snail.

The mineral water was discovered in a deep drilling in 1976 and was exceptionally rich in minerals . The water was then used for beer production until 1999, when the Hürlimann brewery was sold, and sold as Aqui mineral water.

In addition, the population was able to obtain small quantities of mineral water in front of the brewery premises on Brandschenkestrasse in der Enge as "still water" free of charge from the so-called Aqui fountain .

After the brewery was sold, the Aqui fountain was shut down, but the fountain on Hürlimann Square has been accessible again in a new form since May 6, 2004. The new fountain was designed by the sculptor and architect Christoph Haerle and has since been the actual center of the new City-Süd district , which was built on the site of the former brewery.

From May 2011 to November 2011 and June 2015 the well was shut down due to increased bacteria levels in the well water.

The original Aqui fountain designed by the sculptor Helen Denzler was moved (without water connection) to a roundabout in Adliswil .
