Édson de Jesus Nobre , known as Édson (born March 2, 1980 in Benguela ) is a former Angolan football player . The attacking midfielder played most of his career in Portugal , where he has lived since 1987.

Career

Édson's career began in 1999 with DG Mealhada in the Portuguese fourth division. He came to Oliveira do Bairro SC via Anadia FC in 2003 in the Segunda Divisão, the third Portuguese division. In the summer of 2005, first division club FC Paços de Ferreira signed him . There he became a regular in midfield and was promoted to national team in 2005 when he made his debut in a friendly against Japan on November 16 . Édson was part of the Angolan squad for the 2006 World Cup and was used there in the preliminary round match against Portugal . In March 2009 he played his last of a total of 16 international matches.

In the summer of 2009, Édson left Paços de Ferreira and switched to Ethnikos Achnas in Cyprus. There he could not assert himself and in early 2010 joined the Angolan club CRD Libolo . In the summer of 2010 he returned to Portugal, but could no longer build on previous performances. He ended his career in 2012.
