Émile de Najac (born December 14, 1828 in Lorient , † April 11, 1889 in Paris ) was a French librettist.

De Najac was one of the major French librettists for French comic opera in the mid-19th century, often collaborating with other librettists. He wrote the text for Pierre-Louis Deffès ' Les Noces de Fernande with Victorien Sardou , the text for Estelle et Némourin (1882) with Henri Bocage and the text for Le Premier baiser (1883) with Raoul Toché , both set to music by Émile Jonas .

In 1885 he wrote the libretto for Alexandre Charles Lecocq's La vie mondaine in collaboration with Paul Ferrier , and in 1887 in collaboration with Paul Burani the libretto for Emmanuel Chabrier's Le roi malgré lui . De Najac also wrote libretti with Eugène Scribe , Edmond François Valentin About and Albert Millaud .

The piece Divorçons , which de Najac wrote with Sardou in 1880, is played up to the present day and has been filmed several times. a. twice by Ernst Lubitsch : in 1925 as Kiss' me again and in 1941 under the title Ehekomödie .
