Etienne Bouhot

Étienne Bouhot (born August 8, 1780 in Bard-lès-Époisses , † July 17, 1862 in Semur-en-Auxois ) was a French painter. He was director of the École de Dessin de Semur-en-Auxois .

Life

His artistic work began with an apprenticeship as a decorative painter in Dijon . In 1801 he moved to Paris. In 1808/09 he took part in panoramas of Rome , Wagram , Tilsit and Antwerp . He achieved success with vedute , especially from Paris . From 1822 onwards he traveled within France. He devoted himself increasingly to landscape painting, but is generally forgotten due to the rare participation in the Paris Salon .
