Evelyne Trouillot (born January 2, 1954 in Port-au-Prince , Haiti ) is a Haitian writer. She is best known as a narrator, novelist and poet. Her brother is the well-known writer Lyonel Trouillot .

Live and act

Evelyne Trouillot was born into an upper middle class family in Haiti. Several members are active in the cultural sector, one brother is a political scientist , one sister is a children's book author, and an uncle is a historian. Her best-known family member is her brother Lyonel Trouillot, who is an important voice as a writer and social critic in Haiti.

After graduating from high school in Port-au-Prince, she moved to the USA , where she studied pedagogy and philology and returned to her homeland in 1987 after completing her studies. Her first book was published in 1996. Since then, books have appeared primarily in the genres of novels, poetry, short stories, children's literature and a play. Her preferred languages ​​are French and Creole .

The author's texts and books have been translated into German, English and Italian. She lives in Port-au-Prince.
