Íñigo López de Mendoza y Quiñones
Íñigo López de Mendoza y Quiñones (* approx. 1442 ; † July 20, 1515 ), Marquis of Mondéjar ( Spanish Marqués de Mondéjar ) and Count of Tendilla ( Spanish Conde de Tendilla ), was a Spanish nobleman and politician.
Life
After his childhood and youth in Guadalajara he participated in the conquest of the emirate of Granada . For his services he was appointed fortress commander of the Alhambra and general captain of the new kingdom of Granada after the conquest .
Mendoza was intelligent and educated and promoted important contemporary humanists such as: B. Peter Martyr of Anghiera . Mendoza's correspondence from 1504 to 1515 is one of the most important contemporary collections of letters.

- From 1512, his son Luis Hurtado de Mendoza y Pacheco increasingly took over the official business and succeeded him as captain general after his death in 1515 .
- Since his son Antonio de Mendoza was ambassador and viceroy of New Spain (1535–1550) and Peru (1551–1552).
