The Öömrang Hüs in Nebel

The Öömrang Hüs ( Öömrang for: Amrumer Haus) is a listed building in Nebel on the island of Amrum ( North Friesland district , Schleswig-Holstein ). It has the address Waaswai 1.

The exact year of construction of the thatched captain 's house ( Uthländisches Haus ) is unclear. It is given as around 1751. The house belongs to the local and cultural association Öömrang Ferian, founded in 1974, and today serves as an archive and museum. In the residential part of the building, several rooms can be viewed that are intended to show "how the Amrum people used to live". The living culture of bygone days is shown in the faithfully furnished kitchen, living room and other rooms. In the living room ( a Dörnsk ) there is a Bilegger stove from 1681 in front of a tiled wall with the tableau of a delicatessen ship , the captain of which was once the owner of the house. The room is therefore also called the captain's room . The two short alcove beds show that the former residents also slept in the room. Today the room is also open to couples for civil weddings.

In addition to the permanent exhibition, there are also temporary exhibitions in other rooms. It is open from April to October from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free, donations for the maintenance of the house and for the work of the association are requested.
